The chairman of the subsidy reinvestment and empowerment programme, Mr Ishaya Akau explained to Nigerians that the future of the programme lies in the hand of the new administration headed by president Muhammadu Buhari.
He made this statement while exchanging view with Mr. Mike omeri who is the Director General of National orientation agency in Abuja. He said (SURE P) has been noted to function between 2012 and 2015. He said provision for (SURE P) in the 2015 budget was mainly for the ongoing project across the nation, he further stated that was not made for the programme before until some discussion on it.
He said that the programme has helped solve some problems in Nigeria and the success of the organization will be determined by the recipients of the service.
Sure P has made provision for infrastructure like railway, roads and many safety net intervention programme.
He said the programme did Kano-Maiduguri road, Lokoja-Abuja road and many more.
Omeri once said SURE P has created job for many youths in Nigeria and this has been noted by NOA.
He said the agency was engaging other relevant agencies to advice the government on the matter.
Omeri also stated that the agency would assist to disseminate appropriate messages to the citizens to consider if subsidy was still the way to go in Nigeria.
